Okay I know I should have updated sooner but whenever there is a free minute I choose to sleep, eat, shower, pick up, (you get the picture) over updating my blog. We've been pretty busy so I'm not going to play catch up, just highlight a few things. Starting with the birth of our beautiful baby boy Jonah Bryant Slade.
Jonah came early. About 2 and a half weeks early. I started spotting the Friday before he was born and then had that wonderful burst of energy. I didn't have all my supplies ready so over the weekend I cleaned, shopped, organized, and called my midwife to give her a heads up just in case. She came over to my house on Monday to check on me. I was 100% effaced and dilated to a 2. Which means nothing. Later that evening (I think it was around 10:30) I started to have contractions. Nothing bad or consistent so I thought nothing of it and Josh and I went to bed, but the contractions kept coming. I wasn't sure if I was in labor or not but finally decided to call my midwife. Josh started to get the bed ready while we waited for her to show up. I kept thinking it was going to be a false alarm and the contractions were going to stop any minute. When Linda showed up she checked me and I was dilated to a 5. She assured me it wasn't a false alarm so we called my best friends mom who is also a midwife and was going to catch the baby, and my sister Naomi and had her come over to stay with Jack in case he woke up. The birth went well and Jonah was born at 3am. One of my favorite things about home birth is the following morning when Sophia woke up and came into our room she was surprised to see a new brother in bed with mom and dad. We had a hard time coming up with a name. It was a toss between Cash and Jonah, Sophia's vote was for Rock n' Roll Cash Slade (which she still calls him), but we settled on Jonah and love it. He is wonderful and we are so happy he's a part of our family. We had lots of help from family members. Josh's brother Bryant his wife and girls along with Josh's mom came from AZ to visit just days after Jonah's birth. His mom stayed for two and a half weeks to take care of us. I was able to rest and not worry about a thing. We love and thank you Mom, and everyone else who helped us out.
A week after Jonah was born we celebrated Sophia's 5th birthday. She had a wonderful little party with her cousins Skyler and Sibley and her friend Madison. We are so thankful for Sophia. She has such a great personality and is a big help around the house.
For those of you that are still reading that's it for now. I'll try to continue to take pictures and stay up to date.
