Help Terrible Two's!

Jack's been waking up in the middle of the night but when we go to him he starts to throw one of his usual fits where he thrashes about and tries to slam his head into things. We (meaning me) decided to let him cry it out and not go to him at all. Well last night I think it was around three am Jack woke up. He carried on until 5 am when I couldn't take it anymore so I decided to just get up for the day and make him get up as well. He continued to roll around the house crying while I started laundry, and made breakfast. I just tried to ignore him. I decided to get out the camera and take a picture of him throwing his fit only when he saw the camera he stopped and smiled. He even said cheese. I can't believe how strong willed he is. I hope I can survive.
Taking a break to smile for the camera

6 am he falls asleep on the floor. Only to wake up about 10 min. later to carry on.

Asleep again in a new location. I transferred him to his bed and went to bed myself. He slept until 10:30am.

I love all your updates. Your kids are so funny and cute! Jonah looks even older than he did 2 weeks ago. Jason has always done the same as Jack. He will cry in the night, but when I go to comfort him he pushes me away and gets all grumpy. The only thing that ever works is to take him into the kitchen and turn on all the lights and wake him up completely by giving him water or something. But that doesn't always work. Good luck!

Here is what we did with Brady.... I used to get up a lot and feed him but then that started to turn into a game until I said it is time to sleep and not eat...he has to have his LIGHT on other wise he freaks out...I wonder if Jack is waking up to pee and then just can't get back to sleep...Sometimes we let him cry it out and sometimes it would last longer than others,,,,we made sure he had his favorite blanet and toys (I am sure you have tried this though)...maybe stick a puzzle or book in there...usually one of us gets up and comforts him or litterally just says it's time to go back to sleep and he does or our last resort is making him a bed on our floor with his blankets....maybe some of this will help....you must just be exhausted...I am sooo sorry.

Wow you really have your hand full. You must be exhausted. Good luck figuring that one out. I hope Jonah is a least sleeping through the night or your going to be seriously sleep deprived.

Hey Melissa, it's Nicolle. I would tell me him that in this family, at this time, we sleep. I seriously did it with my Brady, who had night rages and was a major fit thrower. It took a couple of tries, but it worked. And I have 2 thumb suckers, and I LOVE IT! They were/are the best babies. Awesome self soothers.

Hahaha - I'm laughing so hard, and so relieved at the same time - I just took Teague to Zion's this weekend and spent most of the time with him laying in the dirt screaming at me. What a fun time - he's discovered this pitch that pretty much makes my brain melt. It's a good thing I love him - else I would have just left him with some German Tourists in St. George.

Poor mommy! If we lived closer I would help you during the day. I always had toys in the crib for the kids and with Alison I even put a sippy cup of water in when I went to bed. My toys were the kind that attached to the side of the crib, but when they got to be Jake's age I would also put in some of thier favorite things, that did not make too much noise. That way they could drink, play and put themselves back to sleep. Good luck!

Oh man. I love that he stopped to smile at the camera! I love that Jack! I hope that Jonah is sleeping well for you so that you aren't completely exhausted.
